October 21, 2021

Dear Cardinal Students, Families and Supporters!

With the upcoming vaccination mandate near (more details in a previously distributed District letter that can be found here: English | Spanish | Tagalog | Swahili | Arabic | Vietnamese | Somali), I want to inform you that Hoover High School will be hosting a COVID-19 vaccination clinic on Wednesday, November 10 and Wednesday, December 1, from 8 AM - 12 PM, in partnership with LaMaestra Community Health Centers.

Those who have not yet received their first dose of the vaccine are encouraged to participate.  Those who have received their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine more than 21 days ago may come for their second dose.  The clinic will take place in the Hoover theater and is open to students, staff, and the community for anyone 12 years of age and up. This vaccine is free and no appointment is needed.  Hoover students may be vaccinated without a parent but MUST have a completed consent form to participate.  Consent forms can be found in Hoover’s main office, Hoover’s Health Office, AND I will email to you when received from the La Maestra Community Health Center. It is important to me to ensure our community has access to resources and I’m hopeful a vaccine clinic on our campus provides support to our families..

I also want to address that District Leadership has not yet released important information related to students who choose to not receive the vaccine. Two questions I receive often are:

  1. What is the process for vaccine exemptions?
  2. What are the educational options for my 16 and older child if they do not get the vaccine?

District Leadership has informed principals they are working on these answers and I can assure you that once I am provided with this clarity, I will immediately inform our community.

A couple of other notes:

  1. Today (10/29) marks the end of the Quarter 1 grading period.  We will be mailing report cards home towards the end of next week.
  2. We have a PTSA meeting on Tuesday, November 2, at 5:30 PM.  Please CLICK HERE
  3. There is no school on Thursday, November 11, in observance of Veterans’ Day.
