Dear Cardinal Students, Families, and Supporters!
I hope this message finds you and your families well and healthy. I want to provide you with some updates, including access to the COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine at Hoover High School.
COVID-19 Vaccination Site at HOOVER!
UCSD will be providing the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccination next Monday, May 10, and Tuesday, May 11 (from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM), to all students, families, and community members who are over the age of 16 years old. The vaccination site will be in our beautiful new theater. Students under the age of 18 will need to bring a completed parent consent form to the vaccination site. We are mailing out these consent forms to families/guardians who have at least one 16+ year old student in the household. The consent form can also be obtained below:
Access to this vaccine in our community is critical to helping slow the spread. As we are all aware, City Heights has been hit hard with tragedy over the last year. We welcome you and your 16+ year old child to become vaccinated at Hoover High School.
Update with on-campus learning
It has been amazing to see the kids who are on campus. I knew I missed them so much, and it’s great to have the heart back at Hoover. Students are doing an excellent job following all safety protocols and measures. Approximately 60% of our students have opted to return to campus and 40% are continuing to learn online full time. We know every family has to make the choice that is best for them, and our teachers are doing a great job to ensure ALL students feel like a part of the classroom community whether they are in-person or online.
As of today, students with an IEP, English Learners, ALL juniors and ALL seniors have access to attend in-person learning 4 days a week. Our freshmen and sophomore classes are the most full, so it’s likely that in classroom options for freshmen and sophomores who don’t have an IEP or are not an English Learner will stay at 2 days a week (last names beginning with A-L on Monday/Tuesday and M-Z on Wednesday/Thursday).
If you decide that you’d like your child to begin attending classes on campus, they are welcome to report to campus on their designated day. They will need to bring a completed “Acknowledgement of On-Site School Instruction Option,” that can be found by CLICKING HERE. We look forward to seeing them.

Espero que este mensaje te encuentre a ti y a sus familias bien y sanos. Quiero proporcionarle algunas actualizaciones, incluyendo el acceso a la vacuna de Pfizer contra el COVID-19 en Hoover High School.
Sitio de vacunación contra el COVID-19 en HOOVER!
UCSD proporcionará la vacuna de Pfizer contra el COVID-19 el próximo lunes 10 de mayo y martes 11 de mayo (de 8:00 AM a 4:00 PM) a todos los estudiantes, familias y miembros de la comunidad que sean mayores de 16 años. El sitio de vacunación estará en nuestro hermoso teatro nuevo. Los estudiantes menores de 18 años deberán traer un formulario de consentimiento de los padres completado al sitio de vacunación. Actualización con el aprendizaje en la Escuela
Ha sido increíble ver a los alumnos que están en la escuela. Sabía que los extrañaba mucho y es genial tener a nuestros alumnos de vuelta en Hoover. Los estudiantes están haciendo un excelente trabajo siguiendo todos los protocolos y medidas de seguridad. Aproximadamente el 60% de nuestros estudiantes han optado por regresar en persona y el 40% continúa aprendiendo en línea a tiempo completo. Sabemos que cada familia tiene que tomar la mejor decisión para ellos, y nuestros maestros están haciendo un gran trabajo para garantizar que TODOS los estudiantes se sientan parte de la comunidad del salón, ya sea en persona o en línea.
A partir de hoy, los estudiantes con un IEP, los estudiantes de inglés, TODOS los estudiantes del 11 y 12 grado tienen acceso a asistir al aprendizaje en persona 4 días a la semana. Nuestras clases de estudiantes del noveno y décimo grado son las más llenas, y por esa razón los alumnos solamente se presentarán 2 días a la semana (los apellidos de A-L los lunes/martes y M-Z los miércoles/jueves).
Si decide que le gustaría que su hijo comience a asistir a clases presenciales, puede presentarse en la escuela en el día designado. Deberán traer un “Reconocimiento de la Opción de Instrucción en el Plantel Escolar” completo, que se puede encontrar HACIENDO CLIC AQUÍ. Esperamos verlos.
