HOOVER HIGH SCHOOL HOME/SCHOOL COMPACT 2018-2019

Hoover High School and the parents of the students participating in activities, services and programs funded by Title 1, part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act) ESES agree that this compact outlines how the parents, the entire school staff and the students will share responsibility for improved students' academic achievements and that will help students achievement and the means by which the school and the parents will build and develop a partnership that will help students achieve California' high standards. The Home/Compact is in effect during the 2018-2019.

School Responsibilities

We, the Hoover Staff, will:

  • Provide a high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment

  • Involve students in AVID strategies to enhance learning

  • Provide a culture in which all students set goals and build skills that will help them to be

    successful in high school, higher education, and in their future careers

  • Foster a safe and positive learning environment with a consistent application of the site

    discipline plan

  • Create a welcoming environment for students, families, and community members

  • Provide opportunities for parents to volunteer, to become an active member of the school

    and to participate in site decision making committees

  • Communicate with parents through frequent reports on their child's progress such as:

    newsletters, phone calls, conferences, e-mails, and student study teams

  • Provide opportunities for learning beyond the school day for students and parents

  • Prepare students to be college and /or career ready.

Parent Responsibilities
We, as parents, will support our child's learning by:

Serving on school committees and volunteering when possible.
Contacting teachers and counselors about concerns in a timely manner
Making sure our children attend school daily, on time, prepared, and ready to work and learn
Holding high expectations for our children and regularly monitoring our children's progress
Supporting the programs of the district and the school including the district and site discipline policies.

Support the organizational strategies of and school by:

  • checking the student planner for assignments and communications, and reviewing

    student homework

  • limiting TV viewing, video and computer use, and encouraging daily reading at

    home,

  • Reading and responding as necessary to all communications from the school,

Student Responsibilities
We, as Hoover High School students, will share the responsibility to improve our academic achievement by:

  • Making our education our first priority

  • Setting aside a regular time and place each school night to review daily and weekly

    school work, to read, to complete homework, and to study for assessments

  • Participating in activities beyond the school day such as homework club, clubs, extended

    day, or Summer School, Cardinal Camp

  • Creating a positive learning environment for everyone by respecting ourselves, school

    property, each other and adults through the use of respectful language and actions

  • Following the school/classroom rules and the district and site discipline policies

  • Communicating to parents/guardians all notices and information from the school every

    day

  • Serving on school committees and volunteering when possible

  • Contacting teachers and counselors about concerns in a timely manner
