COLLEGE AVENUE COMPACT TEAM UPDATES

Joining the Hoover team this month: Giovana Duong!

Previously at Clark Middle School and Wilson Middle School, Giovana is back from maternity leave to support our 9^th grade CAC students as they transition at Hoover High.

In addition to supporting our 9^th graders, Giovana will be supporting our 12^th grade office hours on Thursdays this fall!

PREPARING, PLANNING, & PAYING FOR COLLEGE: A FAMILY WORKSHOP SERIES

Great topics for families of all grade-levels!

Workshop series facilitated by SDSU Counseling Masters students to support our families and students at Hoover High.

SAT/ACT REMINDERS FOR FALL 2020

• SAT/ACT scores are NOT required for Class of 2021 on CSU and UC applications; scores are OPTIONAL
• Many private colleges/universities have also gone TEST-OPTIONAL or TEST-BLIND for admissions
• SDUSD schools will NOT be a TEST-SITE for fall 2020
• In regard to the SDSU Guarantee criteria (College Readiness requirement) – updates coming soon (see attachment)!

CAC DROP-IN OFFICE HOURS AND 1-1 APPOINTMENTS

• CAC seniors can sign up for 1-1 Appointments with Ms. Claudia: to discuss college list, majors, college eligibility, and check-in on college/fin aid apps.

• In November: CAC will open up drop-in office hours to more students, especially if they do not have a college access program!

In the meantime, you can refer seniors without a college access program to their school counselors and resources included below
