Safety In Our Schools 2: We invite you to a special meeting for the Hoover Cluster Schools! On May 8th from 5:30 to 7:00 at Wilson Middle School, the Hoover Cluster will be hosting a town hall around the safety concerns in our City Heights community. The first Town Hall was held on April 8th and was an opportunity for all educational partners to share their concerns around safety in our community. One of the voices that was not heard in the last town hall were the Hoover teacher or student voices. We encourage students and staff to attend the meeting.

Avenues For Success will host a College Signing Day event on Thursday, May 4th, from 1:00pm to 2:00pm in the amphitheater! The event aims to celebrate Hoover students who have committed to four-year and two-year colleges.

Free 9th annual Community Open House Day on Thursday April 20th from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm. Open House is a wonderful opportunity to experience San Diego City College. Parents welcome. It is free!

College, Career, Basic Needs offered in a free resource conference for the Hoover community.

Pantry distribution #3 is now in the books! 264 families were served, and 1216 individuals were impacted. Focus groups continue on campus with various stakeholder groups. The Community Garden is thriving. Students have been harvesting various types of lettuce, carrots, and tomatoes for our school cafeteria.

The Legend of Nathan Harrison, written and co-directed by Hoover High School senior Shakur Jackson who writes, co-directs and stars in a play bringing the legend and life of freed slave Nathan Harrison to the stage on Feb. 22-23

Hoover Food Pantry on 1st and 3rd Tuesday, Family distribution will take place at the Highland Ave gate from 2:15 to 3:15 pm. Please see the attached flyers.

Ms. Makings is coming to the Hoover community as a current San Diego Unified Principal at Sessions Elementary School. She is enthusiastic to continue her work at the high school level and to assume the role as Principal.

Dear Parent/Guardian of Hoover Senior: As a parent/guardian of a prospective graduate of the Class of 2023, we are all looking forward to your student participating in senior activities, culminating with Commencement June 14, 2023. To ensure that your student is eligible to participate in all end-of-year senior activities, including Commencement, we want you to be clear about eligibility requirements so you can ensure your student meets them.

Most future jobs require some type of education beyond high school. Learn about the A-G college requirements, and classes your students need to take in middle and high school in order to prepare them for college and career.

The center runs Monday through Friday from 3:45-4:45. We primarily offer tutoring in English, Math, Science, and History, but Ms. Avelar, who is an Education Specialist, is also available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays to assist students who need special education services.
