Dear Hoover Students and their Fans, 

 

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! Whether you are a returning Cardinal or joining the Hoover Nest for the first time, I am excited to have you here. 

 

This year, our theme is Teamwork: Bringing Our A-Game. 

 

Think about any great team. No one player wins the game alone. Every person has a role, every effort matters, and the team is strongest when everyone works together. Hoover is no different. 

This year, I challenge each of you to bring your A-Game. 

 

Your A-Game does not mean being perfect. It means showing up, putting in effort, taking responsibility for your choices, supporting others, and believing that you are capable of more. Sometimes your A-Game will mean earning a great grade. Other times, it may mean asking for help, trying again after a setback, encouraging a teammate or classmate, or simply choosing to keep going. 

 

Every player matters. Every role matters. Every day matters. 

 

One of the most important ways you can bring your A-Game is by being at school and in class every day, on time and ready to learn. Your attendance matters because you cannot take advantage of opportunities you are not here to experience. 

 

At Hoover, we are continuing to build a school where students feel safe, connected, supported, and challenged to reach their potential. Creating that kind of school is a team effort. Your voice, your choices, and your energy help shape our campus every day. 

 

Being your principal is an honor that I do not take lightly. I want you to know that I will continue to bring my A-Game every day to support you, encourage you, and help you reach your goals. I will be in your corner, cheering you on, challenging you when you need it, and celebrating your successes along the way. 

 

We will have wins and we will have challenges, but we will face them together. When we bring our A-Game, support one another, and work as a team, we are unstoppable! 

 

So let's show up. Let's work hard. Let's lift each other up. Let's celebrate the wins. And when we face a loss, let's learn from it, get back in the game, and keep moving forward. We will collect the W's together!

Hello Hoover Families,

I am excited to begin my fourth year at Hoover High School and another year serving our students, families, and community. Over the past several years, I have been proud to be part of our continued work to strengthen our school culture, expand opportunities for students, and improve student outcomes. As we begin the 2026–2027 school year, I look forward to building on that progress and continuing to make Hoover a place where every student feels supported, challenged, and connected.

With a background in teaching and many years in education, I remain deeply committed to keeping students at the center of our work. Strong partnerships between school, home, and our community are essential to student success, and I value the opportunity to continue building those relationships with our Hoover families.

At Hoover, I am proud to support our Electives and College, Career & Technical Education (CCTE) Pathways, which provide students with opportunities to explore their interests, develop real-world skills, and prepare for college, career, and life beyond high school. I also continue to work closely with our ASB and Athletics programs to strengthen student engagement, school spirit, and opportunities to recognize and celebrate our students for their academic achievement, leadership, growth, and contributions to our school community.

I am looking forward to another great year and to continuing our work together to ensure that Hoover is a school where students feel valued, supported, and proud to be Cardinals. Thank you for your continued support and partnership.

Dear Hoover Community,

I am thrilled to begin my third year as an associate principal here at Hoover! Returning to the school I graduated from in 1996 has been an incredibly meaningful experience, and it’s been a true honor to serve the students, families, and staff of this amazing community.

This past year, I had the privilege of working alongside a dedicated and passionate staff who consistently put students first. It has been inspiring to see the love and care our educators pour into their work every day, and I am excited to continue building on the strong foundation we’ve created together.

After over 20 years in education, I remain deeply committed to fostering a positive, inclusive, safe, rigorous, and supportive learning environment. My passion lies in collaborating with students, staff, families, and the larger community to ensure every student has what they need to succeed. More than ever, I believe that all students can succeed when given the opportunity, tools, and support to be successful. I am inspired by the student who wanted to drop an AP course she thought would be too hard for her but then finished the semester with an A in the course. I am equally inspired by the student who throughout the year struggled to show up to school but then showed up to summer school and successfully recovered his credits and verbally stated he wants to do better. The success our students are experiencing at Hoover is a testament to your dedication. 

I look forward to continuing this important work in the year ahead and to all that we will accomplish together for our students. Thank you for all that you do!

Hoover Families

I am honored and excited to continue my 3rd year working in my community City Heights at Hoover High as your Associate Principal. I know the importance of families and communities working together to ensure positive outcomes for all students. I have a total of 15 years in education, with 11 of those years in the San Diego Unified School District.

I am the child of immigrants. My father was born in Barbados and my mother in Antigua as part of the Caribbean islands. My parents immigrated to Los Angeles, CA in the mid 1970s. I received my Bachelor’s degrees (English, World Literature and World Arts and Cultures, Dance) from UCLA and my Master’s Degree and Teaching Credential from UCSD.  This past May, I graduated with my Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership from San Diego State University.

My parents have always emphasized the importance of education and how it has the power to open doors to endless opportunities and possibilities. I know from experience that ALL students are capable of learning and achieving greatness. I  look forward to working with students, families, and the community in ensuring that ALL of our students have the necessary tools, resources, support, and opportunities to be successful in their academics and beyond.

I am looking forward to continuing to work with you all.
